Honoring God by Being Ready

And now a message from the Emergency Broadcast System. 'Don't let your lamps run dry in these days before the return of the King of Kings.  ' Jesus is coming back soon.  Are you ready? Check out Matthew Chapter 25, verses 1 through 13. There were ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the Bridegroom.  Five of them were foolish and took no oil with them and five were prudent and took oil in flasks along with their lamps.   They all fell asleep waiting for the Bridegroom.  At midnight there was a shout "Behold the Bridegroom!".  Then all the virgins awoke and trimmed their lamps.  The foolish said to the prudent, "Give us some of your oil for our lamps are going out.  But the prudent answered saying 'No, there will not be enough for us and you too, go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.  And while they were going away to make a purchase, the Bridegroom came and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.  And later the other virgins also came, saying 'Lord, Lord open up for us.'  But he answered and said, 'Truly I say to you, I do not know you. '  "Be on the alert for you do not know the day nor the hour." They all intended to be ready, but not all were ready.  What does it mean to be ready for the Lord?    What does it mean to have oil?  Lastly how do you get the oil?

Isaiah 49:13  Shout for joy, O heavens; rejoice, O earth, burst into song, O mountains!  For the Lord comforts his people and will have compassion on his afflicted ones.  But Zion said, "The Lord has forsaken me the Lord has forgotten me.  "Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne?  Though she may forget, I will not forget you!  See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands, your walls are ever before me.

 It seems that the more often we listen to the world and the people around us without checking into what God wants for us, we'll find we're being molded to the ideas of the world and the people around us.  So, instead of seeking a worldly mindset, we should be looking for a Kingdom mindset.   What does a Kingdom mindset look like and how do we get it?
